Students at one local high school say a teacher brings her baby to class and breast feeds the infant in the back of the classroom. We'll have more on this story coming up tonight at 9:00. But let us know what you think...

i'm all for bf'ing wherever you are comfortable and not being made to go out of your way to feed your child in public...as a mom yes she has this right....and yes she's covered...HOWEVER...im not sure i would be ok with this going on if this was my childs classroom..is this happening during class? between classes? i remember the teacher lounges when i was in school being pretty nice and cushy...why in the classroom? is she just trying to make a point?

I don't think that I know of any place of employment that would be okay with this, not just a school. If you're at work you should be working. She is not being paid to breastfeed. She should pump the milk and store it so that who ever is watching the child can feed her, if she wants the bonding then she should take a leave of absence so that it's not interfering with her work.

I agree, I dont know any place of employment that allows or would allow this. You are there to work not get paid to breastfeed. I am all for breastfeeding and doing it in public and women having that right however when you are at work you are there to work. She can either take a leave of absence for the bonding, ect or pump for the sitter. She can also pump in the teachers lounge during her breaks for when she needs to pump.

Yah this is just extreme. Anyone who was a part of the old forum knows how riled up i get when it comes to telling a woman she should cover up or not do it at all in public but this just doesn't belong in a classroom when you're trying to teach. Now if this is the same article that i posted a few years ago about the teacher being a professor at college and doing it to prove a point because her kid as a fever then i stand by what i said years ago which was keep that baby at home with a fever! However i think this is probably a new one and so i say nope nope nope. Teach our kids, breastfeed your baby in the break room, or nursery, or whatever but not on those kids time.

Breastfeeding aside, there's daycare for a reason. You can't bring your kids to work, and in my opinion, it's even worse at a school. Imagine how distracting it would be to try to study/learn and hear a baby cry?
