INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An 8-year-old boy was arrested this week in connection to a fire that’s being investigated as arson.

According to the police report from IMPD, the fire happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 3100 block of Guilford Avenue.

Officials with the Indianapolis Fire Department say firefighters were initially dispatched to the scene on the report of a possible residence fire, but the first unit on scene found nothing showing. All other fire units were disregarded.

No one was hurt in the fire. The report indicates there was damage to an item in the home that was worth $100.

IFD officials say an investigator responded to the scene and determined along with the prosecutor’s office that there was enough probable cause to warrant an arrest of the boy.

The 8-year-old was taken into custody and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Officials say the case is still under investigation and is ongoing.
