| - A female nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas has tested positive for Ebola after a preliminary test, officials said. Confirmatory testing will be conducted Sunday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. Test results are expected to be announced later in the day. The patient is a female nurse, an official who is familiar with this case told CNN. She helped care for Thomas Eric Duncan, the first person ever diagnosed with Ebola in the United States, Texas Health Resources chief clinical officer Dan Varga said. Duncan died Wednesday. wrote:

| Ok, like I stated before I'm not one to gt hyped about stuff but the more I read the more I get nervous and scared. - The nurse was involved in Duncan's second visit to the hospital, when he was admitted for treatment, and was wearing protective gear as prescribed by the CDC: gown, gloves, mask and shield, Varga said. The official familiar with the case told CNN that the CDC will investigate to see if guidelines were followed properly. "The CDC is looking very carefully around the circumstances of this patient's infection and will look to see if there were any breaches and, if so, what those were," the official said. A "close contact" of the nurse has been "proactively" placed in isolation, Varga said. The hazardous materials unit of the Dallas Fire Department has cleaned up and decontaminated the public areas of her apartment complex, Mayor Mike Rawlings said. Police are keeping people out of the area and are talking to residents nearby. "We have knocked on every door on that block," the mayor said. Hazardous materials units have also cleaned out the nurse's car and will work on her apartment Sunday. wrote:

| If she has become infected then procedures not being followed properly is most likely the cause. The disease is not an airborne illness. I'm not saying that it's her fault that she has become infected, but accidents happen and with outbreaks like this you have to follow all procedures to a T. |

| I agree. It was something that was initially breached, an accident, that occurred for her to become infected. They mention that in the article. But to be cleaning everything the way they state in this article. Knocking door to door kind of makes me nervous. |

| Hayden and Javen had shigella about a month ago. It is not a life threatening disease but the department of disease control made me notify anyone who had contact with my kids to make them aware (I had to give any names and numbers so that they could notify them as well) and then they went into Hayden's school and sterilized it.
It's just prevention, I would be concerned if they didn't do such indepth cleaning and talking to neighbors. If they do not contain this ebola strand it will become an epidemic here as it has in Africa. Luckily america isn't a third world country and we have the capabilities and funds to contain it as much as possible. Honestly, I am by far more concerned with that D68 virus or whatever it is. It is by far more likely that my kids or someone I know will come into contact with that. |

| Oh ok! See I didnt know that the it was standard protocol to do that sterilization. Around here ive never heard or seen it done. You make great points, it makes me feel better! Thank you.
Yes I am super super worried about the Enterovirus D68 more because both my girls have an auto immune deficiency and the virus will harm them worse because of that and Kamila has asthma. |
