I had actually planned on keeping my placenta had I have had my home birth. I am sure I could have asked for it at the hospital, people do that, but at the time it was the furthest thing from my mind. There really are a lot of health benefits for mom post partum, in consuming her placenta. It's really not as gross as some people think it is :)
