INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man charged with child molesting for an incident at a day care had been warned twice before not to pick up girls for no reason, court documents reveal.

Ali Al-Awadi was charged with Level 3 felony child molesting after a 4-year-old girl came forward and said he inappropriately touched her, causing pain. The accusations stem from his time working at Children’s Choice Learning Center, which is a day care on the grounds of St. Vincent Hospital.

Al-Awadi said in interviews with day care staff and police that the girl wrapped her legs around his arm while he was picking her up to get her to go to sleep. He blamed any injury on that, saying she must have rubbed up against his watch.

Day care staff didn’t immediately call the girl’s parents, despite a policy to call parents for even the smallest injury, the probable cause affidavit said. The day care also delayed in reporting the incident to the Department of Child Services.

In the past, day care staff warned Al-Awadi there was no need to pick up children who were capable of walking on their own, court documents said.

I just saw this on the news and it pissed me off for a number of reasons. What are your thoughts on this?

Why the hell did they wait to report it? Why weren't her parents notified. This is all too weird

Yeah if you touch my child, or any child, inappropriately I'm going to calmly ask you not to do it again.......NOT!!! In any case of inappropriate contact with any child there should be no second chance. I smell something very rotten here and would not trust this place to look after any children at all!
And if it was my kid he would be lucky to walk again let alone go back to work!!

How is a watch going to damage a child or hurt them? That could only happen if the child was naked, if she had clothes on then it wouldn't have snagged or anything.

He was told before not to pick up kids that can walk?? Well he chose not to listen.

The daycare didn't notify the parents or cps automatically? In my opinion they need to be held accountable a long with this man!

And I'm just going to point out to everyone because you don't live in my area, but this day care is a part of one of the largest hospitals in Indianapolis. This was not some little ghetto place located in some lady's basement. This facility should have known better and there is no excuse for them not to act accordingly as they are supposed to.

Why shouldn't he have been around children? Maybe I read it wrong, but it looks like he was charged with molestation because of this event...Which pisses me off a bit. I've seen children do crazy things at day cares because they don't want to have a nap or just chill out. I don't think his explanation is unbelievable. The school should have informed the parents immediately of any injury. If I drop my kid off anywhere with no injuries, I expect him to be returned to me with no injuries.

i would be livid at them for not notifying me...i think i would need to know more about what type of injury she suffered...at the very least he should have immediately been removed from direct contact with children until they could determine exactly what happened

the other thing i will say..based on his name he is obviously of a different race and probably religion and I do know that sometimes their ways can be very off putting to others...its possible he was truly just trying to be nice and care for the children...maybe he doesn't understand why we could be so upset by the simple act of picking a child up...

was he charged with molestation for this incident? or previously charged? and if you have to tell someone not to pick up children several times, then would'tn that give you some sort of feeling like maybe they shouldn't be working there??? I would be so beyond pissed and suing everyone had that been my daughter and i wasn't called or told anything of the incident!!! omg!!! this makes me so mad!!! even more so because i work in childcare and i KNOW kids do crazy stuff, but seriously? this scenario doesn't make much sense to me!!!
